Dr. Mark Manary, a renowned pediatrician and expert in childhood malnutrition, is the Helen B. Roberson Professor of Pediatrics at Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis. He is a pioneer in the development of Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF), a high-calorie, nutrient-rich paste for treating severe malnutrition at home, conducting the first clinical trial in 2001 and making it the global standard of care for severe malnutrition. He also founded Project Peanut Butter (PPB), a nonprofit organization that promotes local production of RUTF in multiple African countries and empowers local communities to combat malnutrition.
